Position Overview
The role of a Residential Counselor at Ascentria Care Alliance focuses on delivering guidance and support to participants in the Teen Parenting Programs. These initiatives provide transitional housing for low-income and homeless mothers along with their children, fostering a secure and nurturing atmosphere. The counselor plays a vital role in assisting residents in developing essential life skills necessary for achieving successful independent living.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recognize and respond to the developmental needs of residents while addressing environmental and mental health considerations.
- Utilize behavior management strategies to navigate trauma-related behaviors effectively.
- Support residents in their daily activities, including routines, household tasks, educational assignments, and leisure pursuits.
- Ensure a safe and healthy living environment that is free from disruptive actions.
- Provide guidance on daily living activities and adherence to program regulations.
Qualifications:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate's Degree in Human Services is preferred.
- At least one year of relevant experience working with women, adolescents, or children is necessary.
- A valid driver's license along with certifications in First Aid and CPR is mandatory.

Travel Requirements:
Yes, this position involves transporting clients in a 10-passenger van.
Skills Required:
Demonstrated motivation and proficiency in providing support and counseling to residents.
Educational Requirements:
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Associate's Degree or higher in Human Services or a related field.
Experience Requirements:
Required: Minimum of one year of experience working with women, adolescents, or children in a residential or community context.
Licenses & Certifications:
Required: MA Driver's License, CPR, and First Aid certifications.
