Position Summary:

The Residential Support Specialist will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer and will play a vital role in assisting families residing in our emergency shelter. This position emphasizes a holistic approach to support, ensuring that families and youth receive the guidance necessary to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the intake process for new families, ensuring a smooth transition into the program.
  • Monitor safety and security protocols by conducting regular checks throughout the facility.
  • Provide day-to-day assistance with life skills to families, addressing their immediate needs.
  • Document incidents and safety concerns through the established communication system.
  • Ensure completion of household responsibilities by families on a daily basis.
  • Assist in organizing community events and workshops for family engagement.
  • Support new family members during their orientation to the program.
  • Deliver crisis intervention services as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A genuine passion for working with diverse and economically challenged families and youth.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage a dynamic work environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in crisis management.
  • Attention to detail and a thorough understanding of community resources available to families.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience working with at-risk populations, including those with mental health challenges or substance abuse issues.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in a Human Services-related field.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
