Position Summary:

The Residential Support Specialist will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer and will be instrumental in assisting families within a communal emergency shelter environment. This role emphasizes a holistic approach to support, ensuring that families and youth receive the necessary resources to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Family Support: Facilitate the intake process and orientation for new families, ensuring they understand program expectations.
  2. Conduct regular safety checks to maintain a secure environment for all residents.
  3. Assist families with daily living skills and provide guidance as needed.
  4. Document all significant incidents and safety concerns using the designated communication system.
  5. Ensure that families complete their daily responsibilities and maintain cleanliness in shared spaces.
  6. Collaborate with colleagues and volunteers to organize events and workshops that benefit residents.
  7. Provide crisis intervention and support to families in need.
  8. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A genuine passion for working with diverse and economically challenged families and youth.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
  • Experience in crisis management and a keen attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with community resources available to support economically disadvantaged families.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience working with individuals facing mental health challenges, developmental disabilities, or substance abuse issues.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in a Human Services-related field.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish, English/Haitian Creole, English/Portuguese) are encouraged to apply.
