Job Overview

POSITION TITLE: Aquatic Safety Supervisor

ROLE SUMMARY:

  • Oversees aquatic activities at the facility, ensuring adherence to established policies, guidelines, and safety protocols.
  • Alerts swimmers to unsafe behaviors or potential hazards while enforcing aquatic regulations and safety standards.
  • Provides first aid in case of injuries, rescues individuals in peril, and performs CPR or artificial respiration when necessary.
  • Assesses safety conditions and activates the emergency action plan for aquatic incidents as needed.
  • Conducts inspections of pool facilities, equipment, and water quality to guarantee safety and usability.
  • Manages and assists in the maintenance of the pool and associated facilities, including conducting chlorine tests and maintaining records of water quality and incidents.
  • Teaches or supports swimming classes as required.
  • Addresses scheduling conflicts to maintain a secure swimming environment when multiple programs or priorities require the use of aquatic facilities.

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Availability for varied shifts, including days, occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential. Positions are part-time, with hours up to 39 per week, determined by the needs of the department.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • All candidates must possess valid Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications. These certifications must remain valid throughout the employment period.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Applicants must be at least sixteen (16) years old. A work permit is required for those under eighteen (18).
  • Must have or be in the process of obtaining an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification or equivalent.
  • Must have or be in the process of obtaining CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The ideal candidate will be an adept swimmer with experience in a swimming facility. Participation in aquatic sports such as swimming or water polo is highly encouraged. Bilingual skills are also a significant advantage.
