Position Overview:
As an Aquatic Safety Supervisor, you will oversee the pool environment by conducting vigilant patron monitoring, consistently upholding safety regulations, and providing essential supervision for the aquatic areas. Your role is crucial in ensuring a secure and enjoyable atmosphere in and around the swimming facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute primary and secondary duties as outlined in Lifeguard Expectations.
- Conduct thorough patron surveillance.
- Be present on deck, dressed in the appropriate JCCSF lifeguard attire, and prepared to begin your shift punctually.
- Guarantee safety in and around the aquatic zones at all times.
- Assist swimmers in distress.
- Administer first aid and CPR as required within and outside the Aquatics Department. Proactively identify hazardous situations and implement measures to mitigate risks.
- Assist lap swimmers in locating suitable swimming lanes based on speed and ability.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety in the pool area consistently.
- Regularly check pool chemical levels as scheduled.
- Keep accurate records of pool usage as required.
- Complete all necessary documentation promptly and professionally.
- Foster a warm and inviting atmosphere for all members.
- Exhibit a positive, customer-service-oriented, and professional demeanor.
- Maintain required certifications.
- Participate in all mandatory training sessions or staff meetings as scheduled.
- Comprehend safety and emergency protocols for the JCCSF.
- Embrace and uphold the JCCSF Mission, Core Values, and Customer-Service Standards within and outside the Aquatics Center.
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed.
- Current ARC Lifeguard Training Certification or equivalent.
- Must be at least 16 years old with a valid work permit.
- Current ARC CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent.
- Dependability, reliability, and punctuality.
- Basic knowledge of pool chemistry testing and adjustments.
- Exceptional customer service abilities.
- Strong swimming skills.
- Capability to perform in-water rescues.
- Effective communication skills.
This position involves working in and around the JCCSF's indoor swimming pools. It is a public-facing role that requires regular interaction with program participants, guests, and staff, including ongoing engagement with families and children.
Physical Demands
Ability to fulfill all essential duties of a certified lifeguard, including in-water rescues. Must be able to lift and transport weights up to 50 lbs.
Employment Status:
This is a non-benefited, non-exempt position.
Work Hours:
Flexible part-time shifts available.
Schedule:
The pool operates seven days a week.
