Position Overview
This role encompasses two temporary, as-needed lifeguard positions aimed at addressing peak operational demands and providing essential support during busy periods. Under the guidance of the Aquatics Coordinator, the Lifeguard will ensure the safety and well-being of all pool patrons while enforcing facility regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor pool activities to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of all users.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, executing lifesaving techniques and providing first aid as necessary.
- Prepare the aquatic facility for various activities, ensuring readiness for swimming teams and other events.
- Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and patrons regarding pool policies and safety practices.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of the aquatic environment through regular inspections and maintenance tasks.
- Document incidents and maintenance issues as they arise.
- Assist in setting up the pool for diverse aquatic programs, including lane lines and safety equipment.
- Exhibit professionalism and a high level of customer service at all times.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Current certifications in Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid.
- A minimum of 200 hours of experience as a lifeguard, either paid or volunteer.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a community college setting.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with a diverse student population.
- Proven ability to maintain composure and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
