JOB TITLE: Aquatic Safety Supervisor

JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • Oversees swimming operations at the aquatic center, ensuring adherence to established policies, guidelines, and safety protocols.
  • Alerts swimmers to unsafe behaviors or hazards while enforcing aquatic regulations and safety measures.
  • Provides first aid in case of injuries, rescues individuals in distress, and administers CPR or artificial respiration when necessary.
  • Assesses safety conditions and activates the aquatic emergency action plan as needed.
  • Conducts inspections of pool facilities, equipment, and water quality to guarantee safety and usability.
  • Supervises and aids in the maintenance and cleaning of the pool and related facilities, assists with water quality testing, and maintains records of water tests and incidents.
  • Instructs or supports swimming classes as required.
  • Resolves scheduling conflicts to maintain a safe swimming environment when multiple programs or priorities require the use of aquatic facilities.
AVAILABILITY:
  • Must be flexible to work various schedules, including days, occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays. Positions are part-time (up to 39 hours/week). Assignments and schedules are determined based on the needs of the Parks Department. (These are seasonal roles.)
CERTIFICATIONS:
  • All candidates must possess valid Lifeguard, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), First Aid, and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) certifications. All certifications must be obtained prior to the start of employment.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Candidates must be at least sixteen (16) years old. Note: An approved work permit is required for those under eighteen (18).
  • Candidates must have or be in the process of obtaining an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification or equivalent.
  • Candidates must have or be in the process of obtaining CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • The ideal candidate will be a proficient swimmer with experience in a swimming facility. Candidates with backgrounds in aquatic sports such as swimming or water polo are highly encouraged to apply. Bilingual skills are also preferred.
