Role Overview:
This position plays a crucial role in the development and operational success of New Glenn, a heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle designed for frequent transport of both personnel and cargo to various orbits, including low-Earth orbit and beyond. The first stage of this vehicle is fully reusable, designed from inception to support human missions.

Key Responsibilities:
- Take full ownership of the design for metallic structural components.
- Provide technical guidance and detailed product knowledge to facilitate build activities.
- Offer Liaison Engineering support to address non-conformances, identify process enhancements, and update engineering definitions.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering their technical development.
- Oversee fabrication and assembly services, procure necessary components and materials, and manage vendor performance to adhere to vehicle build timelines.
- Collaborate with configuration and assembly teams to prioritize procurement activities, identifying long lead items and addressing emergent part shortages.
- Plan and execute test objectives, conduct data reviews, and prepare reports.
- Maintain and report on project schedules, budgets, and technical statuses.
- Identify and implement opportunities for upgrades and improvements to New Glenn.
- Create and modify engineering drawings, specifications, and related documentation.
- Develop and maintain a detailed schedule of activities, ensuring timely delivery of engineering milestones.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in the design of structures for automotive, aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicles.
- Experience with recently developed vehicles, focusing on load path distribution and strength assessment.
- Proficiency in shell buckling and critical structural element design.
- Knowledge of material selection and manufacturing techniques.
- Strong mechanical design skills utilizing 3D CAD software.
- Familiarity with GD&T analysis (ASME Y14.5) and related standards.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Creo (Pro/E) and Windchill software.
- Hands-on project experience with engineering objectives at the collegiate level.
- Familiarity with FEA analysis tools such as Nastran, ANSYS, and LS/Dyna.
- Understanding of systems engineering practices and quality control processes.
