Manufacturing Engineer Level II

This position is hosted by Jobot. We are seeking a qualified candidate for the role of Manufacturing Engineer II. The successful applicant will be part of a dynamic team dedicated to transforming access to space through innovative technology.

Key Responsibilities
• Collaborate with design engineers to assess and approve tooling and part assemblies, providing insights based on enhanced Design for Manufacturing (DfM) strategies.
• Develop clear work instructions and training materials in partnership with design engineers to define manufacturing processes and train technicians.
• Implement process improvement techniques (e.g., value stream mapping, visual management) to enhance production efficiency and quality, while minimizing waste.
• Conduct capacity analyses to determine optimal staffing needs.
• Plan and execute upgrades to capital equipment and layouts to meet production demands.
• Work closely with structural analysts to ensure performance goals are achieved.
• Provide hands-on engineering support for prototype development and testing phases.
• Design effective material handling, packaging, and labeling systems to safeguard hardware throughout production and testing.
• Support testing operations, contributing to design enhancements and process improvements.
• Optimize planning and control processes within the Manufacturing Execution System.
• Create tooling, jigs, and fixtures to facilitate parts manufacturing.
• Establish relationships with external suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery of hardware and equipment.
• Operate various equipment, including wire EDM, CNC machines, and hand tools as necessary.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in Manufacturing, Production, or Process Engineering.
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities.
• Proficient in interpreting engineering models, drawings, specifications, and test procedures.
• Familiarity with metal and polymer additive manufacturing processes and best practices.
• Knowledge of composites manufacturing processes and standards.
• Flexibility to work varied hours as required.
• Must be a U.S. Person as defined in 22 CFR Part.
Preferred Skills and Experience
• Demonstrated experience in an industrial setting, delivering high-performance composite components from concept to production.
• Background in composite design and manufacturing for aerospace applications.
• Experience with CAM programming and Design for Additive Manufacturing for both metal and polymer processes.
• Proficiency in NX and other CAD software.
• Understanding of industry standards and references (e.g., MIL-HDBK-5/17, ECSS-E-HB-32).
