Position Summary

The Senior Voice Systems Engineer is responsible for the research, design, development, integration, testing, documentation, and supervision of the installation of advanced communication systems. This role focuses on both analog and digital voice communication technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Initiate and manage assignments independently.

  • Identify and prioritize tasks to meet critical project deadlines.
  • Collaborate with clients on technical projects to define scope and timelines.
  • Establish requirements for voice communication systems and define system architectures.
  • Create detailed designs and documentation for voice communication installations.
  • Develop and implement Acceptance Test Procedures and Operational Instructions.
  • Work closely with drafting teams to maintain accurate system drawings.
  • Integrate both custom and commercial off-the-shelf products into existing systems.
  • Conduct sustaining engineering tasks including part replacements and software updates.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for escalated technical issues.
  • Draft engineering instructions for modifications affecting system design.
  • Source materials and components that comply with voice system specifications.
  • Evaluate system upgrade projects and provide estimates for labor and materials.
  • Address a variety of moderate complexity problems with effective solutions.
  • Operate under general supervision.

Qualifications

  • 16+ years of experience in systems engineering within communication systems.
  • Prior experience with NASA communication systems is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Quintron and Frequentis intercommunication systems.
  • Strong grasp of engineering principles and technologies.
  • Knowledge of IP networks, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and database management.
  • Basic understanding of T-Carrier systems and DC power systems.
  • U.S. citizenship with the ability to pass a background investigation is required.
  • Must be able to pass drug testing protocols.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license is necessary.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field with 16+ years of relevant experience.

OR

  • Master's degree in Engineering or a related field with 14 years of relevant experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Work is typically performed in a controlled environment.
  • Occasional site visits may be required.
  • Hybrid work arrangements may be available.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds is necessary.
