Role Overview:

This position plays a crucial role in the development and operation of New Glenn, a state-of-the-art heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle designed for frequent missions carrying both crew and cargo to various orbits, including low-Earth orbit and beyond. The first stage of this vehicle is fully reusable, emphasizing our commitment to sustainable space travel.

As a member of our dynamic engineering team, you will be involved in the design, analysis, and testing of both primary and secondary structures for the New Glenn second stage.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct design, analysis, and testing of structural components, including both composite and metallic parts.
  • Create detailed 3D models, part drawings, and assembly documents.
  • Provide production support and technical guidance for hardware integration.
  • Engage in configuration development and trade studies.
  • Develop test plans and documentation for flight hardware.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the production of high-quality aerospace hardware.
  • Participate in subsystem testing, data analysis, and review.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and technical status reports.
Qualifications:

We seek a candidate with a minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering and at least 5 years of experience in structural design for automotive, aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle applications. Your expertise should include:

  • Structural design of metallic components and assemblies.
  • Load path distribution and strength assessment.
  • Material selection and manufacturing techniques.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software and GD&T analysis.

Additionally, you should possess strong interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships and a culture of inclusion.

Desired Skills:

Experience with structural mechanics principles, cryogenic environments, and the full product lifecycle from design to production is preferred. Familiarity with analysis software such as Nastran, ANSYS, and Abaqus is also advantageous.
