Role Overview
This position plays a critical role in shaping the future of space exploration, requiring a strong commitment to safety and meticulous attention to detail. You will collaborate with a diverse group of engineers, taking ownership of designs from initial concept through to launch.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, analyze, and develop primary and secondary structures, including both composite and metallic components.
  • Create detailed 3D models, part drawings, assembly instructions, and interface control documents.
  • Provide support for manufacturing and production processes related to your designs.
  • Offer technical guidance during hardware integration.
  • Engage in configuration development and trade studies.
  • Implement practical approaches to hardware fabrication, considering cost implications.
  • Develop test plans, specifications, and documentation for flight hardware.
  • Collaborate with vertically-integrated teams responsible for materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Participate in subsystem test planning, execution, and data analysis.
  • Coordinate and conduct tests, reviewing and interpreting test data.
  • Assist in the acquisition and development of new equipment and tooling.
  • Maintain and report on project schedules, budgets, and technical statuses.

We seek a candidate who can leverage their technical expertise and leadership capabilities to enhance the safety of human spaceflight. A passion for our mission is essential.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Over 5 years of experience in structural engineering related to automotive, aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle systems.
  • Experience with structural design of metallic components and assemblies.
  • Proficiency in vehicle load path distribution and strength assessment.
  • Strong skills in mechanical design and integration using 3D CAD software.
  • Familiarity with GD&T analysis (ASME Y14.5).
  • Ability to foster trust and maintain professional relationships within a diverse team.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience applying structural mechanics principles through hand calculations and finite element analysis.
  • Understanding of design considerations in cryogenic environments.
  • Experience throughout the product lifecycle from design to production.
  • Familiarity with Creo (Pro/E) and Windchill software.
  • Knowledge of composite structure design and fabrication.
  • Experience with analysis software such as Nastran, ANSYS, or Abaqus.
