Library Assistant

As a Library Page, you will play a crucial role in this mission. This position is designed to provide insight into the operations of a library system, offering a wealth of knowledge and experience to help you determine if a career in library services is right for you.
We seek candidates who exhibit a strong work ethic, reliability, and exceptional communication skills. As a representative of the library, a friendly and approachable demeanor is essential.
Position Details: The Library Page role requires a commitment of 18 hours per week, including evenings and weekends. Schedules may vary based on the library's needs and are subject to change.
Key Responsibilities- Provide outstanding customer service by maintaining a positive and courteous attitude towards the public.
- Organize and shelve books, CDs, DVDs, and other library materials in an orderly fashion.
- Assist patrons with inquiries, helping them locate materials and directing them to the appropriate resources.
- Support patrons with basic technology usage, including computers and audio/visual equipment.
- Prepare library materials requested by patrons.
- Help staff with checking materials for damage and managing inventory on the shelves.
- Assist in setting up public spaces for events and programs.
- Perform additional related tasks as needed.
- Current enrollment in a degree program at an accredited institution.
- Possession of a valid employment certificate for minors under 18, as mandated by state law.
- Ability to accurately sort and arrange items in alphanumeric order.
- Strong organizational skills and capacity to follow detailed instructions in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent customer service abilities and experience working with a diverse group of patrons.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Demonstrated reliability and professionalism.
- Basic proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and Google Applications.
- Experience troubleshooting basic computer and printer issues.
- Familiarity with eReaders and library technologies.
- Ability to communicate in foreign languages.
- Be Helpful to patrons and colleagues.
- Be Resourceful in addressing challenges.
- Be Curious in all aspects of your work.
- Moderate lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required.
- Pushing book trucks as part of daily duties.
