We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Library Page at The New York Public Library. As a Library Page, you will play a vital role in supporting the library's operations and providing exceptional customer service to our patrons.
Key Responsibilities- Customer Service: Provide a positive and courteous attitude to the public by offering exceptional customer service and responding to in-person inquiries.
- Collection Maintenance: Shelve and arrange books, CDs, DVDs, and other library materials in a neat and organized manner.
- Patron Support: Assist patrons with basic computer, internet, and audio/visual equipment usage, and help them locate needed materials.
- Material Preparation: Locate and prepare library materials requested by patrons.
- Event Support: Assist staff with setting up public spaces for events and programs.
- Other Duties: Perform other related tasks as needed to support the library's operations.
- Education: Current enrollment in a degree program at an accredited school.
- Experience: Proper employment certificate for minors under 18 as required by NYS law.
- Skills: Ability to accurately and efficiently sort and arrange items in alphanumeric order, strong organizational skills, excellent customer service skills, and basic computer and technology skills.
- Technical Skills: Ability to troubleshoot basic computer and printer issues, experience with eReaders and library technologies, and ability to speak foreign languages.
The Library Page position is a non-exempt, part-time role that requires a moderate level of physical activity, including lifting up to 25 pounds and pushing book trucks.
Salary and BenefitsThe salary for this position is determined by collective bargaining agreement(s) and is competitive with other libraries in the area. The Library offers a range of benefits, including paid time off, health insurance, and professional development opportunities.
