Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Manager to join our team at Colwen Hotels. As a key member of our hotel operations team, you will be responsible for leading the maintenance team in ensuring the hotel property is safe and functional for our associates and guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the maintenance department to ensure associates adhere to Colwen Hotels and brand standards.
  • Recruit, interview, and hire associates for the Engineering department.
  • Develop specific departmental goals and objectives to prioritize, organize, and get work done.
  • Drive ongoing associate engagement and recognition initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain open collaborative relationships with direct reports and team members.
  • Manage the ordering and inventory of Engineering department supplies and uniforms.
  • Supervise staffing levels to ensure guest services, operational needs, and financial objectives are met.
  • Supervise and schedule maintenance staff; monitor associate performance; provide coaching, mentoring, and developmental plans to improve associates' capabilities and performance.
  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in electrical/mechanical systems and other hotel equipment as needed.
  • Follow OSHA Guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Manage the ongoing room preventative maintenance program.
  • Review maintenance problems, complaints, and work orders to prioritize and schedule work.
  • Conduct routine property inspections to identify potential and current needs.
  • Estimate department expenditures for budget purposes and assist with capital budget process.
  • Coordinate with local health, safety, fire, and building inspectors to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • 2 years of previous hotel engineering or management experience required.
  • Strong leader of people.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of kitchen equipment/refrigeration preferred.
  • Working knowledge of fire protection and life safety systems.
  • Reliable with the ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiar with common computer software programs (e.g. Microsoft office).
  • Must be willing to work rotational work schedule, including weekends and holiday.
