Position Overview

NORTH SUFFOLK COMMUNITY SERVICES INC is seeking a dedicated Junior Maintenance Technician to become a vital part of our Facilities team. This role is essential for the systematic organization and execution of various maintenance and repair tasks as delegated by the Facilities and Maintenance Director. The Maintenance Technician will also participate in an emergency on-call rotation, which may require off-site travel.


Compensation: This position offers a competitive pay rate of $20-22/hr, along with paid on-call duties, including reimbursement for phone and travel expenses.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess project requirements and formulate job plans for approval by the Director.
  • Provide material, labor, and cost estimates to the Director for project completion.
  • Complete necessary documentation such as work orders, purchase orders, and sales receipts with accurate job details.
  • Timely submission of equipment damage, loss, and accident reports.
  • Return surplus stock, materials, and equipment to the facilities department.
  • Perform repair tasks utilizing the latest technology while adhering to local and state regulations.
  • Carry an emergency beeper and coordinate with appropriate vendors during emergencies, ensuring follow-up communication until resolution and documenting emergency procedures taken.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.
    • Trade school attendance or certification is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • At least 6 months to 1 year of experience in property management and maintenance is necessary.
  • Skills:
    • Familiarity with basic construction and maintenance procedures, including knowledge of material properties, basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry skills.
    • Understanding of spill cleanup protocols, first-aid, and CPR.
    • A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are required.
