Job Overview

NORTH SUFFOLK COMMUNITY SERVICES INC is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to become a vital part of our Facilities team. This role is essential for the effective organization and execution of various maintenance and repair tasks as directed by the Facilities and Maintenance Director. The technician will also participate in emergency on-call rotations and may require travel for off-site assignments.

Compensation: This position offers a competitive pay rate of $22-24/hr, along with additional benefits including paid on-call time with reimbursement for phone and mileage.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess project requirements and formulate detailed job plans for approval by the Director.
  • Provide accurate estimates for materials, labor, and costs associated with each job.
  • Complete necessary documentation such as work orders, purchase orders, and sales receipts with appropriate job details.
  • Timely submission of equipment damage, loss, and accident reports.
  • Return surplus materials and equipment to the facilities department.
  • Execute repair tasks utilizing advanced technology while adhering to local and state regulations.
  • Carry an emergency beeper and coordinate with vendors for emergency situations, ensuring thorough follow-up until resolution and providing recommendations for future prevention.
Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.
    • Attendance at a trade school or possession of a relevant certificate is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in property management and maintenance is necessary.
  • Skills:
    • Familiarity with basic construction and maintenance practices, including knowledge of material properties, electrical systems, plumbing, and carpentry.
    • Understanding of spill response procedures, first aid, and CPR.
    • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
