About the Role

This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), San Francisco Field Division, Office of the ASAC #1.

The primary purpose of this position is to provide assistance to the Special Support Unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receives and documents seized evidence from special agents and diversion investigators during normal duty hours, ensuring it is accompanied by the appropriate forms, and records items in the appropriate logs, and enter into the appropriate electronic system.
  • Maintains an up-to-date list of alternate evidence custodians who act after hours and in absence of the primary evidence custodian.
  • Arranges for or coordinates the disposition, destruction, or return of evidence for the office.
  • Interprets and applies DEA policy related to evidence control.
  • Prepares quarterly and monthly reports.

Qualifications

You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 for the GS-07 and GS-07 for the GS-08.

Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

One year of specialized experience for this position includes:

  • **GS-07:** Assisting with receiving, documenting, and disposing of non-drug evidence; Creating and maintaining automated records of evidence for chain of custody tracking; Analyzing and evaluating information; and preparing reports.
  • **GS-08:** Receiving, documenting, and disposing of non-drug evidence; Interpreting and applying policies related to evidence control; Researching complaints or problems; Coordinating and participating in audits and/or on-site inspections.
