Evidence Custodian

This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), San Francisco Field Division, Office of the ASAC #1.
The primary purpose of this position is to provide assistance to the Special Support Unit.
Key Responsibilities- Receives and documents seized evidence from special agents and diversion investigators during normal duty hours.
- Maintains an up-to-date list of alternate evidence custodians who act after hours and in absence of the primary evidence custodian.
- Arranges for or coordinates the disposition, destruction, or return of evidence for the office.
- Interprets and applies DEA policy related to evidence control.
- Prepares quarterly and monthly reports.

- Must submit to a pre-employment drug test
- Employment is subject to the successful completion of a background investigation, verification of qualifications, completion of onboarding forms, submission of required documents, and any other job-related requirement before or after appointment.

You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 for the GS-07 and GS-07 for the GS-08.
Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
One year of specialized experience for this position includes:
- Assisting with receiving, documenting, and disposing of non-drug evidence;
- Creating and maintaining automated records of evidence for chain of custody tracking;
- Analyzing and evaluating information;
- Preparing reports.
**GS-08**: Receiving, documenting, and disposing of non-drug evidence; Interpreting and applying policies related to evidence control; Researching complaints or problems; Coordinating and participating in audits and/or on-site inspections.
