ROLE OVERVIEW:

The Leadership Events Specialist is responsible for ensuring that the designated revenue portfolio meets its financial targets. This role involves organizing various events such as luncheons, dinners, galas, and other special occasions as assigned.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Revenue Generation (80%): Drive fundraising efforts for Leadership Events by providing leadership and direction to the volunteer team.
  • Execute strategic campaign plans and fundraising objectives aligned with Society goals.
  • Oversee the implementation of fundraising initiatives, ensuring the necessary resources are allocated to achieve set goals.
  • Manage a specific budget for Leadership Events, tracking revenue and expenses, and providing regular updates to supervisors.
  • Utilize market research and competitive analysis to inform future fundraising strategies.
  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with corporate partners and individual donors, ensuring exceptional service.

Collaboration (10%):

  • Work closely with various Society departments to align market strategies with organizational priorities.
  • Partner with the Individual Giving and Major Gift Team to create a cohesive approach for major donors involved in events.
  • Coordinate with the market leadership and corporate teams to manage donor and sponsor relationships effectively.
  • Ensure proper mechanisms are in place for donation processing and expense tracking.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing department to enhance the Society's outreach and revenue generation.
  • Maintain accurate donor records in the national database to facilitate recognition efforts.

Volunteer Engagement (10%):

  • Enhance volunteer participation in Leadership Events by identifying and recruiting talent.
  • Engage volunteers in meaningful roles, providing structured opportunities for skill development and measurable outcomes.
  • Ensure volunteer actions align with Society principles, offering timely feedback to enhance performance.
  • Support the formation of action-oriented volunteer leadership committees focused on fundraising and event quality.
  • Foster a culture of feedback and growth among volunteers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in fundraising and event management.
  • Proven ability to build and lead effective fundraising committees.
  • Results-oriented with a strong track record in sales or fundraising.
  • Familiarity with corporate and individual giving practices.
  • Self-motivated and capable of achieving goals independently.
  • Ability to establish credibility quickly within the organization and contribute to key priorities.
  • Experience in developing cohesive teams of volunteer leaders.
  • Dynamic and creative individual who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong customer service and communication abilities.
  • Proficient negotiation skills.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite and online fundraising tools.
  • Valid driver's license and access to transportation for travel as needed.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

The estimated salary range for this position is $48,000 - $58,000, subject to adjustments based on geographic location and individual experience. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society offers a comprehensive benefits package, including generous Paid Time Off, 401k retirement plan with matching contributions, educational reimbursement, and extensive health and welfare benefits.
