Opportunity: Chief Executive Officer

The CEO serves as a pivotal leader in collaboration with the Board of Directors, championing the mission of Karen Andrews Group and advocating for the arts within the community. This role is accountable for ensuring the organization consistently meets its objectives through strategic initiatives, effective planning, and financial oversight.


As a visionary leader, the CEO will navigate the organization through ongoing transformation and growth, representing the organization in the community and engaging with various partner entities.


Reporting Structure: Reports directly to the Board of Directors.


Core Responsibilities

Strategic Impact and Execution:

  • Provides transformative leadership in crafting strategic plans alongside the Board and staff, ensuring successful implementation of priorities.
  • Maintains awareness of key trends in the arts sector to align the organization’s mission and strategy with innovative practices.
  • Collaborates effectively with board members and staff to realize the organization’s vision.

Resource Development and Community Engagement:

  • Advances the organization’s mission by fostering relationships with key community stakeholders.
  • Engages actively within the community to enhance visibility and support.
  • Manages a targeted portfolio of potential donors, setting annual engagement goals.
  • Diversifies funding sources to ensure organizational sustainability.
  • Oversees the successful execution of grant applications and reporting requirements.
  • Maintains strong relationships with donors, members, and community partners.

Team Leadership and Supervision:

  • Builds trust and rapport within the team through authentic engagement.
  • Implements recognition systems for staff and establishes channels for feedback.
  • Leads a high-performing team, overseeing recruitment, coaching, and performance evaluations.
  • Clarifies roles and responsibilities, ensuring effective personnel management practices.
  • Creates an environment that attracts and retains a diverse group of talented professionals.

Communications:

  • Acts as a representative of the organization in community forums and arts agencies.
  • Keeps the board informed on all significant activities and issues impacting the organization.
  • Reports on performance metrics and alerts the board to any financial concerns.
  • Enhances community awareness of the organization’s mission and activities through effective communication strategies.
  • Establishes strong relationships with external entities.
  • Contributes to the creation of communication materials, including reports and digital content.

Financial Oversight:

  • Oversees the development of sound financial practices and annual audits.
  • Collaborates with staff and board to prepare and adhere to budget guidelines.
  • Ensures operational excellence through effective use of technology and consistent practices.

  • Foster connections with team members to understand their roles and contributions.
  • Enhance organizational culture to support staff retention and engagement.
  • Communicate the organization’s mission and values consistently in decision-making.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the organization’s systems and standards.

Financial Acumen:

  • Become familiar with the organization’s funding and expenditure practices.
  • Understand investment policies and procedures.
  • Analyze budget forecasts and financial performance.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will possess a collaborative leadership style, with a proven track record in building strong relationships with stakeholders, staff, and donors.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of five years of executive experience in a relevant role.
  • Experience in non-profit or arts organizations is preferred.
  • Proven ability to engage with a volunteer board and successfully raise funds.
