Position Overview

AECOM is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to oversee a significant Headworks Rehabilitation Project with a construction budget exceeding $250 million. This role is designed to be long-term and will be based at a wastewater treatment facility. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in managing intricate engineering construction projects across various disciplines including wastewater, civil, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation/control.

The selected individual will lead project teams comprising Assistant Resident Engineers, Inspectors, Schedulers, and more, fostering a collaborative environment across all departments. Responsibilities include guiding the project team in making critical decisions regarding technical strategies, cost management, scheduling, change management, risk assessment, and performance evaluation. This role also involves acting as the primary liaison for the client, designer, contractor, and operational teams, effectively conducting project meetings and ensuring timely delivery of results.

Additionally, the candidate must demonstrate the capability to handle the most diverse and complex assignments, participate in the contract change process, develop and issue requests for proposals, and manage the review of construction submittals to ensure compliance with technical specifications. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential, alongside a solid background in construction management for large-scale wastewater infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the Project Quality Plans align with Contract requirements.
  • Implement the Quality Plan effectively throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Address Requests for Clarifications (RFCs) and Requests for Information (RFIs) from contractors regarding Contract documents.
  • Coordinate activities with external agencies and utility providers.
  • Oversee the technical review of contractor submissions by the design team.
  • Manage the preparation of change requests to accommodate field conditions and stakeholder needs.
  • Facilitate project Design Coordination meetings.
  • Uphold high ethical standards among staff.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Construction, or Structural Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • California Professional Engineer License (P.E.).
  • Valid U.S. Driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supervising at least two completed construction projects valued at a minimum of $50 million, including water/wastewater infrastructure work.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience on a construction project exceeding $100 million.
