Senior Water Treatment Engineer

Position Overview:
This advanced engineering role is situated within the Treatment Plant Program Management team. The individual will take charge of overseeing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating various capital and operational projects related to water treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
The Engineer will manage daily operations of water treatment projects, which includes:
- Assisting or leading the development of project proposals.
- Conducting and/or supervising planning and scoping studies.
- Securing project authorization and funding through the appropriate channels.
The role entails monitoring and controlling project scope, timelines, and financial resources. Additionally, the Engineer will:
- Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify and manage environmental assessments and documentation.
- Prepare technical and management reports using standard software applications.
Additional Duties:
The Engineer may also engage in other project management initiatives or evaluations as necessary to support organizational goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with six years of applicable experience, including two years at the Associate Engineer level; or
- A Master's degree in a relevant field with four years of applicable experience, including two years at the Associate Engineer level.
Relevant Experience:
Experience in managing capital projects, leading multi-disciplinary teams, and expertise in design, construction, or project management involving facility upgrades, repairs, and rehabilitations.
Licenses:
- A valid California Class C Driver's License or equivalent is required.
- A current license as a California Professional Engineer is also mandatory.
Selection Criteria:
- 20% Job Preparation (education, experience, and training relevant to the position)
- 25% Technical knowledge and skills in large-scale water treatment systems design, construction, and operation
- 25% Project Management skills including scoping, budgeting, scheduling, and team leadership
- 15% Oral Communication
