Position Overview

AECOM is seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineering Manager for a full-time position. This role is ideal for an experienced Water/Wastewater Engineer with a strong background in design and project management, looking to broaden their responsibilities.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a solid history in design, project oversight, proposal development, business growth, and client engagement, with the drive to enhance and expand a well-established engineering team.


Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee mid to junior-level engineers on multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and meet all scope requirements.
  • Lead technical design teams on projects including:
    • Water conveyance systems
    • Potable water treatment facilities
    • Wastewater treatment plants
    • Water storage solutions (tanks, dams)
    • Civil site enhancements (drainage, grading)
    • Pumping stations (for potable water, wastewater, stormwater)
  • Manage client relationships and maintain effective communication.
  • Prepare documentation for current and prospective projects, including reports, proposals, and technical specifications.
  • Collaborate with project teams across various regional offices to deliver high-quality services.
  • Assist other departments in providing design services as needed.
  • Participate in the interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
  • Conduct quality control reviews of design calculations and drawings.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with substantial experience in design (minimum 8 years) in a consulting environment focused on water/wastewater projects.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Civil/Environmental/Mechanical Engineering.
  • Over 8 years of experience in detailed design and project management within the water/wastewater sector.
  • Professional Engineering License in California.
  • Experience in municipal infrastructure design.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and modeling software for water systems.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills for junior engineers.
  • Excellent communication abilities, both verbal and written.
  • Proven success in proposal writing and business development.
