As the Financial Cost Manager at NVR, you will play a pivotal role in delivering financial and operational insights to our homebuilding division. Your primary responsibility will be to assist the Division Manager in establishing, monitoring, and evaluating construction costs while ensuring divisional profitability. Collaborating closely with the Production Manager and their team, you will oversee a robust cost control framework to guarantee that each home is constructed within budget, while also identifying opportunities for process enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Division Manager in scrutinizing and managing construction expenses to optimize profits across all homes in the division.
  • Oversee a cost control framework that accurately tracks costs and production variances, enabling precise forecasts of operational outcomes.
  • Collaborate with divisional, regional, and corporate colleagues to foster continuous improvements in costs, profitability, processes, and systems, ensuring uniformity in costing practices throughout the organization.
  • Engage in negotiations and agreements with subcontractors to maximize value, quality, and delivery for NVR and our homebuyers.
  • Maintain and update pricing and cost data for all current and upcoming communities.
  • Estimate costs for new home designs and product offerings as part of the overall divisional business strategy.
  • Evaluate plans for standardizing components, options, and construction methodologies.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in financial analysis, costing, planning, or economic analysis with a strong focus on detail.
  • Ability to translate financial analyses into actionable operational recommendations and drive improvements.
  • Proficient in budgeting and negotiation.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance is required.
  • Experience in costing and analysis is preferred.
  • Experience with large manufacturing or real estate firms is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with new home or commercial construction is a plus.
  • An MBA is preferred.
