The Senior Financial Analyst will utilize various analytical methodologies to address operational challenges, create analytical visualizations, and support strategic initiatives.

This role will ensure that accounting principles are applied accurately and comprehensively; a deep understanding of the business unit's requirements, objectives, processes, and system needs is essential to maximize the effectiveness and scalability of various systems.

The Senior Financial Analyst will evaluate both existing and prospective technologies to improve overall business operations and profitability objectives, while thoroughly comprehending business unit needs, objectives, third-party relationships, and regulatory compliance requirements to optimize the use of system capabilities.

Continuous oversight of rules, regulations, programs, and third-party vendor integrations will be necessary to maintain up-to-date accuracy in all relevant data fields.


Key Responsibilities:

Assists in the installation and implementation of new software relevant to Finance, ensuring project timelines and requirements are fulfilled.
Conducts user acceptance testing for organizational implementations and releases.

Continuously monitors Board Policies, Financial guidelines, programs, and adjustments from third-party vendors to ensure regular updates to the relevant systems for accuracy of all associated data fields.

Employs strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to maximize the benefits of system investments.
Responsible for the preparation of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports and metrics.
Maintains awareness of and adheres to credit union policies and procedures, as well as regulations related to the Bank Secrecy Act.
Aims to achieve departmental metrics and goals, fosters team development, and embodies the NASA FCU Core Values.

Applies Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) which involve analytical, creative, evaluative, and advisory work that necessitates an understanding of both accounting theory and practice.

Understands management's strategic business unit goals and assists in formulating tactical processes, both in procedures and through software capabilities to support those objectives.

Maintains training documentation, historical records, internal procedures, and aids in policy updates.

Implements policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulations governing general accounting practices to ensure accurate and effective compliance.

Conducts qualitative and quantitative data analysis utilizing analytical techniques, tools, models, and simulations.
Reviews, documents, and substantiates variances within monthly financial statements for NASA Federal and/or the CUSOs.
Creates data visualizations and/or dashboard reports for management review of financial and operational outcomes.
Ensures data and system integrity for financial systems, including the portfolio analytics system.
Demonstrates advanced skills in presenting findings, conclusions, alternatives, and information clearly and concisely.
Participates in initiatives for automated financial systems improvement and product configuration.
Establishes, modifies, documents, and coordinates the implementation of accounting control procedures.

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience and/or training.

A comprehensive understanding of the fundamental doctrines, theories, principles, and terminology of accountancy is essential, often requiring some knowledge of related fields such as business law, statistics, and general management.


Other Skills and Abilities:

Ability to work additional hours as required to complete projects and meet deadlines.

Must possess advanced skills in handling financial and numeric data.
Proficiency in Excel Spreadsheets is essential.
Competence in MS Word is required.
Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, taking on new tasks with increased complexity.

The individual is expected to work with minimal guidance and take ownership of their work product.
Familiarity with Accounting software; Database software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software is preferred.

The current software systems utilized include Symitar, FICS Mortgage Accountant and Mortgage Servicer, SAGE, DocuSign, Smartsheets, MS-Excel, MS-Word, ProfitStars Model Management, Blackline, Call Report Pro, nCino, and various third-party lending platforms.


Communication Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to draft reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
