Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Analyst to join our team at the Baltimore City Public School System. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for leading and guiding a team of financial analysts, providing expert guidance on financial and budgetary matters, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and Coordinate Financial Analysis: Provide leadership and guidance to a team of financial analysts, ensuring the timely and accurate completion of financial analysis and reporting.
  • Develop and Implement Financial Policies: Develop, recommend, and implement financial and budgetary policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Manage Budgets and Financial Data: Prepare and manage budgets, monitor financial data, and prepare financial reports to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
  • Provide Expert Guidance: Provide expert guidance and training to financial analysts, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and policies related to financial management and budgeting.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Five years of experience in accounting, budgeting, and/or financial management. Experience with Oracle Financials and knowledge of Oracle General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, and Fixed Assets preferred.
  • Skills: Thorough knowledge of accounting and routine auditing practices and procedures. Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Ability to provide guidance, training, and oversight to assigned financial analysts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA Certification: Certified Public Accountant certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of Funding and Cost Accounting: Thorough knowledge of funding and cost accounting systems at Baltimore City Public Schools or comparable school system.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in the use of technical computer applications, including Microsoft Office Professional Suite, particularly Excel and Access. Ability to manage accounting data analyses and reporting using specialized computer applications for financial management such as Oracle.
