The Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) is in search of a proficient professional to fill the role of Vice President of Legislative Strategy in New York City within the Government Affairs division. This position demands outstanding organizational, managerial, and advocacy capabilities to effectively represent REBNY in matters concerning New York City legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with REBNY personnel, members, and external advocacy groups to assess and prioritize City Council legislation and Mayoral initiatives, establish positions, engage stakeholders, and foster cooperation in addressing policy challenges.
- Formulate and execute REBNY's legislative agenda and strategic plan to proactively engage with elected officials and their key staff.
- Draft testimonies in collaboration with the policy division and participate in legislative hearings at the City level.
- Build and maintain robust relationships with City elected officials to further organizational objectives.
- Represent REBNY at public functions and governmental assemblies.
- Track policy and political trends to bolster organizational advocacy efforts.
- Support the Senior Vice President in divisional planning and performance assessment.
- Engage with senior leadership of real estate firms and REBNY's membership to provide updates and solicit feedback.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in public policy or a related discipline is required.
- A minimum of eight (8) years of experience working with city, state, or federal government officials, especially with the City Council and the Mayor's office in New York City.
- At least eighteen (18) months of experience focusing on real estate-related issues.
- A proven history of managing advocacy initiatives and adapting to evolving priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Capability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.
