Job Overview

Position Summary

The Development Support Specialist will collaborate closely with the Director of Advancement and the administrative team to ensure the seamless execution of our fundraising initiatives. This role is integral in managing both internal and external communications for the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and update our donor management system (Bloomerang).
  • Oversee communication with donors, including regular newsletters and annual fundraising appeals.
  • Assist in organizing and providing administrative support for Advancement Committee meetings, fundraising campaigns, and events.
  • Coordinate donor tours and site visits as required.
  • Provide confidential administrative support and fundraising updates to the Executive Director.
  • In partnership with the Director of Advancement, maintain an annual calendar for grant submissions and manage grant tracking spreadsheets.
  • Conduct research to identify funding opportunities as needed.
  • Support grant writing efforts by gathering necessary information and narratives for various applications and reports.
  • Develop and manage social media content across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • Create engaging promotional materials for both electronic and print communications.
  • Maintain and update the LearningWorks website as necessary.
  • Prepare press releases and other media materials as required.
  • Facilitate internal communications, including weekly updates for the administrative team.
  • Contribute to the overall development and coordination of the Advancement strategy.

Qualifications

Education: A High School Diploma or equivalent is required; a B.S/B.A. is preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for formal education.

Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years in a similar role, demonstrating:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities and a commitment to follow through on tasks.
  • A positive demeanor, confidence, and strong listening skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to engage with diverse cultures and individuals.
  • High emotional intelligence and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
  • Proficiency in email marketing software, MS Office suite, Adobe suite, and social media platforms.
  • Experience with database management and data entry, preferably with Bloomerang.

Working Conditions

This position requires prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer, with occasional standing and walking. Close visual acuity is necessary, and the ability to lift up to 15 pounds may be required. The role is situated in a professional office environment with potential travel. Flexibility in work hours may be necessary to fulfill responsibilities.
