POSITION SUMMARY

LearningWorks Afterschool is dedicated to supporting students in grades Pre-K through 5th who are facing academic challenges. Our programs are designed to foster essential skills through engaging activities in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). We are currently seeking a qualified individual to oversee our program operations.

The Educational Program Coordinator will play a pivotal role in the execution of a four-day-a-week program that emphasizes hands-on learning experiences. This position entails not only the coordination of daily activities but also direct engagement with students and families, ensuring a supportive and enriching environment.

In addition to program delivery, the Coordinator will allocate time for professional development and collaborative planning sessions with the team. This is a part-time, fixed-term position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with LearningWorks Directors and school personnel to facilitate student enrollment and registration.
  • Oversee the daily implementation of the STEAM curriculum and enrichment initiatives, guided by site leadership.
  • Maintain open communication with families, volunteers, and school staff regarding student progress, schedules, and program events.
  • Ensure a safe and organized learning environment for both students and staff.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging healthy lifestyle choices and providing support as needed.
  • Utilize effective strategies to enhance student attendance and meet program goals.
  • Keep accurate records of attendance, activities, and other required documentation.
  • Assist in the development of enrichment activities and curriculum planning.
  • Supervise a team of educators and volunteers, providing guidance and support.
  • Lead regular team meetings to discuss program needs and improvement strategies.
  • Be responsive to inquiries from students and families during program hours.
  • Support the organization of family and community events, presentations, and special activities.
  • Exhibit professionalism in all interactions, adhering to program standards and guidelines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid State of Maine Teaching Certification.
  • Proven leadership experience in an educational context.
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • At least three years of teaching experience with elementary-aged children.
  • A minimum of one year in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and low-performing students is preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in various technology platforms, including Microsoft Office and online communication tools.
  • Experience with remote or blended learning environments is a plus.
  • Ability to think creatively and solve problems effectively.
  • A commitment to professional growth and the adoption of innovative educational practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
