Job Summary

The Development Associate will play a key role in supporting the Advancement team at LearningWorks. This position will be responsible for coordinating and maintaining smooth and efficient operations of our fundraising efforts, as well as overseeing the coordination of internal and external communication efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Donor Management: Administer and maintain our donor management system, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Communication: Oversee print and email communications to donors, including regular email newsletters and two direct mail fundraising appeals per year.
  • Event Planning: Assist with scheduling, preparing for, and providing administrative support to Advancement Committee meetings, fundraising campaigns, and fundraising events.
  • Donor Engagement: Coordinate schedule of donor tours and site visits as needed, and provide confidential donor administration support and fundraising updates to the Executive Director.
  • Grant Management: Working closely with the Director of Advancement, manage annual calendar of grant submission deadlines and update grant tracking spreadsheets.
  • Research and Writing: Provide research and insight on funding opportunities, and assist with grant writing duties, including research and pulling narratives for various applications and reports.
  • Marketing and Communications: Develop and maintain a social media platform, working closely with the Director of Advancement to provide engaging content, and create eye-catching promotional/marketing materials for electronic and print communications.
  • Website Management: Manage, maintain, and update the LearningWorks website as needed.
  • Internal Communications: Coordinate internal communications, including managing weekly email updates for the administrative team.
  • Advancement Planning: Support the development and coordination of the overall Advancement plan.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required, B.S/B.A. preferred - relevant experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
  • Experience: Prior experience in a similar role for 3-5 years, with demonstration of:
    • Impeccable written and oral communication skills
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to follow through on tasks and goals
    • A positive attitude, confidence, common sense, and good listening ability
    • Flexibility and adaptability - able to shift styles to fit the needs of a wide range of cultures, people, and organizations
    • High emotional intelligence; ability to easily develop meaningful relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds
    • Aptitude with email marketing software, MS Office suite, Adobe suite, social media platforms, internet navigation, and VoIP systems
    • Database and/or data entry experience, preferably with Bloomerang
Working Conditions

This position requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Routinely required to stand and walk. Requires close visual acuity and ability to adjust focus quickly. Must be able to lift and move up to 15 pounds at times. Professional office work environment with occasional travel. Employee must be available to come in early or work late on occasion.
