Position Overview
The Sub School Director plays a pivotal role in fostering a supportive and thriving educational environment. This position involves collaboration with:
- Year Level Coordinators
- Members of the Student Management Team
- Student Leadership Coordinators
- Student Wellbeing Advocates
- The Principal Class Team
Key Responsibilities
The Sub School Director is expected to:
- Exhibit proactive leadership throughout the educational community, aligning with the institution's Vision, Values, Policies, and Strategic Directions.
- Engage in high-level strategic planning as a vital member of the College Leadership Team.
- Contribute to the College's Student Management Team, enhancing overall student management strategies.
- Guide the sub school team, fostering leadership capabilities among staff.
- Develop a safe and orderly learning atmosphere that encourages student agency, engagement, and wellbeing.
- Oversee the implementation of College policies regarding student management, uniform, attendance, punctuality, homework, and conduct.
- Address significant discipline and wellbeing challenges that surpass the responsibilities of Level Coordinators.
- Support classroom educators with student management and wellbeing concerns.
- Monitor and counsel students within the Sub School concerning:
- Learning Outcomes
- Student Engagement and Wellbeing
- Pathways and Transitions, including course counselling and subject selection.
- SELP and IB Link, where applicable
- VASS and VCAA requirements, where applicable
- Lead staff in the effective use of Compass.
- Manage at-risk students, ensuring appropriate support is coordinated through collaboration with relevant teams.
- Work collaboratively with fellow Directors of sub-schools to ensure uniform processes in enrolment, behaviour management, interventions, and monitoring student outcomes.
- Facilitate seamless transitions for students entering and exiting the sub school.
- Coordinate with the timetabler regarding exam and orientation schedules.
- Organize and present at College Information Evenings.
- Ensure timely and effective communication with staff, students, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the relevant Assistant Principal to facilitate the enrolment of new students, ensuring a smooth transition.
- Act as a representative for the Principal team when necessary.
- Adapt the position's responsibilities in alignment with changes to the Annual Implementation Plan (AIP) as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal.
Qualifications
Applicants must be registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and possess qualifications or demonstrated experience in the relevant curriculum areas.
