Position Overview
The Instructional Practice Leader will play a pivotal role within the School Improvement Team, serving as a proactive and influential leader in the educational environment. This position is dedicated to spearheading the execution of comprehensive school enhancement initiatives aligned with the School Strategic Plan and Annual Implementation Plan. The leader will foster educational advancement through effective leadership within the Framework for Improving Student Outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
· Cultivate a culture of Respect, Initiative, and Learning.
· Provide inspirational leadership to unify staff and the school community in developing and executing strategies aimed at enhancing student learning outcomes.
· Oversee and manage the Professional Development of all personnel.
· Collaborate with the Leadership Team to assess the professional learning needs of staff and facilitate access to relevant Professional Learning opportunities.
· Partner with key leaders and staff to ensure new initiatives are supported by suitable Professional Development programs.
· Exemplify outstanding classroom practices by conducting demonstration lessons and maintaining an open-door policy for peer observations.
· Establish processes for classroom observation and feedback to enhance teacher practices and support educators in utilizing this feedback effectively.
· Design and lead learning walks to encourage dialogue about teaching methodologies and classroom instruction, in line with the College’s vision for high-quality education.
· Collaborate closely with the VIT Coordinator to mentor novice teachers and those new to the institution, including facilitating ongoing induction workshops.
· Guide coaching practices within the institution by assisting other leaders in mentoring and coaching efforts.
· Demonstrate exemplary use of student performance data to inform instructional strategies, including the analysis of the biannual PIVOT survey.
· Manage the Professional Development process and support staff in completing a Professional Development Plan (PDP) tailored to individual growth needs, student learning, and institutional priorities.
· Work in partnership with the Inclusion leader to enhance teacher capabilities in designing and delivering inclusive educational programs that meet the diverse needs of all students.
· Participate as a member of the Forward Planning Committee.
· Maintain a collaborative relationship with Principal Class and Sub School Leaders.
· Model exemplary teaching and learning practices while providing guidance on the College’s instructional model and strategies.
· Actively engage in and support all school-wide events through leadership and participation.
· Conduct performance evaluations and classroom observations.
· Facilitate Learning walks.
· Adapt to the evolving nature of the position to align with changes in the Annual Implementation Plan (AIP) as necessary.
· Assume responsibilities in the absence of the Principal Class.
· Undertake additional duties as directed by the Principal.
