The Lead Coordinator for Head Start Programs plays a vital role in managing and supporting educational initiatives with a focus on student engagement. This position involves collaboration with multiple government secondary and specialist schools, as well as Flexible Learning Options settings across the state.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate and oversee Head Start arrangements tailored to individual student career goals through a collaborative enrollment process.
- Monitor student progress in educational and training environments, conducting regular site evaluations to ensure suitable placements.
- Equip students with essential skills for the workplace and training environments, fostering a safe and encouraging atmosphere that promotes professional growth.
- Maintain effective communication and support across schools, providing timely guidance to educational leaders, instructors, and career advisors.
- Design and implement professional development tools to enhance the success of the Head Start initiative, offering support to educators and industry partners.
- Engage with the broader school community, government agencies, and service providers to enhance program effectiveness.
- Collaborate with program colleagues statewide to identify opportunities for improvement and mitigate risks to achieve optimal student outcomes.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will possess a relevant tertiary qualification that enhances educational, training, and skill development opportunities for students. A strong understanding of the educational landscape, particularly the connections between secondary education and career pathways, is essential.

- A current Working with Children Check is mandatory.
- Willingness to travel across various school sites and workplaces as required.
- A valid driver’s license is necessary.
- Flexibility to allocate time during school vacation periods for program-related activities.
