Description: Core Responsibilities
The primary role involves the preparation of financial documentation in the form of financial statements and various reports to aid in management's decision-making processes. This position is accountable for the analysis required for the financial statements of the organization for all necessary filings with regulatory bodies. Additionally, it includes the performance of analyses for non-public external financial reports and several internal reports, including those submitted to Corporate Headquarters. Ensuring the precision and punctuality of all tasks is crucial. This role also provides technical expertise to assist business partners across the organization with a diverse array of tasks and projects. Support for the regulatory team in analyzing financial data for testimony preparation and regulatory responses is also part of the responsibilities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare financial reports, which may include financial statements, to assist in management decision-making and conduct analyses of financial outcomes for inclusion in regulatory reporting.
- Collaborate with internal business partners to provide financial insights and research documentation while resolving accounting and reporting challenges in alignment with company policies.
- Investigate complex and unusual variances in financial results, monitoring discrepancies, identifying key factors, and advising management on recommended actions.
- Prepare schedules for general and deferred rate cases, utilizing expertise to respond to data inquiries and contribute to witness testimony preparation.
- Enhance productivity by automating accounting processes and coordinating information requirements.
- Compile and analyze financial data for additional federal reporting as necessary.
- Review regulatory transactions calculated by the Rates Department for inclusion in financial statements and ensure accurate recording.
- Prepare and document journal entries to support precise financial reporting, including necessary account reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, identify deficiencies, and propose improvements.
- Support activities related to both internal and external audits.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant policies, codes, and regulations applicable to the position and the organization.

Qualifications
Essential Education and Skills
- A Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field from an accredited institution, with a minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in accounting.
- If the degree is in a related field, completion of college-level accounting coursework is required for certification.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills
- Proven technical knowledge, including research into new accounting standards and regulations.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting and the organization's business processes.
- Demonstrated project management capabilities, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
- Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Proficient in interpreting accounting, financial, and economic data.

Work Environment
- General office environment with no special physical demands required.

Compensation and Benefits
- Annual Salary: $76,200 (Min) to $89,600 (Mid); includes potential short-term incentive opportunities.
