Description: Key Responsibilities Primary Objective The role involves preparing financial data in the form of financial statements and other reports to assist management in decision-making processes. The individual will be accountable for analysis included in the financial statements of the organization for all necessary filings with regulatory bodies. This includes the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), and reports for bondholders. The analyst will also conduct assessments for various internal reports and non-public external financial documents, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all tasks. The position provides technical expertise to support business partners across the organization with a diverse range of tasks and projects. The analyst will assist the regulatory team in analyzing financial data to prepare testimony and respond to data requests as required. The role operates under moderate supervision, with regular evaluations of completed tasks. Core Duties and Responsibilities - Prepares financial documents (which may include financial statements) to support management decision-making and performs analysis of financial outcomes for SEC reporting and for Corporate Headquarters. - Assists internal business partners throughout the organization with financial insights and research documents, resolving accounting and reporting issues in alignment with company policies. - Investigates complex and unusual variations in financial results, monitors discrepancies, identifies key drivers, and recommends actions to management. - Prepares schedules for general and deferred rate cases, utilizing knowledge to respond to data requests from stakeholders and contributes to the preparation of witness testimony. - Enhances productivity by automating accounting processes and coordinating information requirements. - Compiles and analyzes financial data for additional federal reporting as necessary. - Reviews regulatory transactions calculated by the Rates Department for inclusion in financial statements and records those transactions. - Prepares and records journal entries to support accurate financial reporting, including account reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts. - Ensures adherence to internal controls, identifies deficiencies, and proposes improvements. - Supports activities related to internal and external audits. - Maintains compliance with all relevant policies, codes, and regulations applicable to the position and the organization. - Performs additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Essential Education, Skills, and Environment
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field from an accredited institution and a minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in accounting. If the degree is in a related field, completion of college-level accounting coursework is required for Nevada CPAs. Specialized Knowledge and Skills
- Demonstrated technical knowledge, including research into new accounting guidelines and SEC and FERC regulations. - Strong understanding of financial reporting and the organization's business processes. - Proven project management, prioritization, and multitasking abilities. - Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. - Proficient in interpreting accounting, financial, and economic data. Annual Salary: $76,200 (Min) to $89,600 (Mid); potential for up to 12% Short Term Incentive Plan target opportunity at the discretion of the company. This is a non-represented position.
