Job Overview: Key Responsibilities

Primary Objective

Responsible for generating financial documentation, including financial statements and various reports to aid management in decision-making processes. This role involves conducting analyses for the financial statements of the organization, ensuring compliance with all necessary filings to regulatory bodies such as the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Additionally, the position entails performing analyses for non-public external financial reports and internal documentation, including contributions to the Corporate Headquarters. Accuracy and timeliness are paramount in all tasks. This role also provides technical expertise to support business partners across the organization on a variety of projects and tasks. Collaboration with the regulatory team is essential for analyzing financial data to prepare testimonies and respond to regulatory inquiries as required. Operates with a high degree of independence and may engage in special projects or provide guidance to junior analysts.

This position is integral to both External and Internal Financial Reporting teams. Duties may encompass the preparation of SEC filings such as Forms 10-Q and 10-K, generating internal financial reports, analyzing financial data for management reports, and preparing various schedules to support the month-end accounting close process. Assists in ensuring the efficiency of month-end close operations and accurately responds to data requests under strict deadlines.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Prepares financial reports (which may include financial statements) to support management decision-making and conducts analyses of financial outcomes for SEC reporting and corporate reporting. Provides financial expertise and research documentation to internal business partners and resolves accounting and reporting challenges in alignment with company policies. Investigates complex and unusual financial fluctuations, monitors variances, identifies key drivers, and recommends actions to management. Prepares schedules for general and deferred rate cases, utilizing expertise to respond to data requests from interveners and contributing to witness testimony preparation. Enhances productivity by automating accounting processes and coordinating information requirements. Compiles and analyzes financial data for additional federal reporting as necessary. Reviews regulatory transactions calculated by the Rates Department for inclusion in financial statements and ensures accurate recording of those transactions. Prepares and records journal entries to support precise financial reporting, including account reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts. Ensures adherence to internal controls, identifies deficiencies, and proposes improvements. Supports activities related to internal and external audits. Maintains awareness of compliance requirements and follows all applicable policies, codes, and regulations relevant to the position and organization. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications Essential Education, Skills, and Environment
Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field from an accredited institution, with a minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in accounting. If the degree is in a related field, completion of college-level accounting coursework is required for Nevada CPAs. Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Proven technical knowledge, including research into new accounting guidelines and SEC and FERC regulations. Strong understanding of financial reporting and the organization's business processes. Demonstrated project management, prioritization, and multitasking abilities. Strong analytical, communication, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Proficient in interpreting accounting, financial, and economic data. Technical Proficiencies
Proficient in PCs, word processing, spreadsheet, and database software. Work Environment and Physical Demands
General office environment with no special physical demands required. Compensation

Annual Salary: $100,700 (Min) to $118,400 (Mid); Up to 15% Short Term Incentive Plan target opportunity at the discretion of the company. This is a non-represented position.
