Financial Analyst for Grants Management

POSITION OVERVIEW

Under the supervision of the Grant Fiscal Administrator and the Business Office, this role encompasses a variety of accounting tasks related to grants and other financial responsibilities. Key functions include the preparation of comprehensive financial reports for grants, oversight of grant expenditures and budgets, collaboration with grant coordinators, and engagement with educational department staff. This position also involves participation in grant monitoring activities, support for both internal and external audits, and maintenance of financial ledgers as necessary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Generate all monthly financial reports in alignment with grant specifications.
- Prepare monthly reimbursement requests and ensure compliance with federal, state, and other grant regulations.
- Input and oversee grant budgets while collaborating with grant coordinators and district personnel.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and facilitate audit processes.
- Maintain various subsidiary ledgers and execute journal entries.
- Review purchase requisitions and purchasing card transactions for accuracy.
- Maintain position control allocations and prepare necessary schedules, cost analyses, projections, and reports.
- Conduct research and analysis as required, develop and maintain procedural manuals, and monitor accounts payable and payroll systems for quality assurance and operational efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience: A combination of education and experience that equips the candidate with the necessary knowledge and skills is acceptable. A typical pathway includes:
- A degree from an accredited institution in accounting;
- AND
- A minimum of three years of professional accounting experience, preferably within a governmental organization and with grants and fund/cost accounting.

Knowledge of:
- Supervisory principles;
- Governmental accounting practices;
- Relevant standards from the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB);
- Regulations from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) and OMB Circulars;
- Federal and state laws governing grants;
- Proficiency in computerized business systems and intermediate-level skills in Microsoft Excel.

- Capacity to work independently with minimal oversight;
- Proficiency in performing detailed tasks accurately.

CERTIFICATIONS

Possession of a Certified Public Accountant's Certificate is preferred.
