POSITION SUMMARY

The Affordable Housing Management Supervisor is tasked with the oversight of a portfolio dedicated to single adult affordable housing, which encompasses both direct property management duties and the supervision of a property manager within the team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the management of affordable housing units in the Metro West area, delivering hands-on property management services for over 140 housing units.
  • Handle the recruitment and selection of tenants, ensuring compliance with program regulations and funding requirements, while assessing applicant suitability, qualifications, and conducting necessary background checks.
  • Lead the Metro West Housing & Property Management team, collaborating closely with the Program Director of Supported Housing to maintain program stability and support client development.
  • Manage departmental operations and financial activities, including staffing, budgeting, and achieving financial objectives.
  • Recruit, mentor, and evaluate team members, providing essential training and performance management in accordance with company policies.
  • Represent the organization at regional meetings concerning the Metro West housing continuum.
  • Ensure that all supportive housing initiatives empower clients in their recovery journey, thereby enhancing their quality of life and independence.
  • Facilitate regular house meetings at properties to foster community engagement.
  • Monitor occupancy and rental income targets, regularly reviewing accounts receivable, rental collections, evictions, and referrals to meet financial goals.
  • Assist in the integration of new properties into the housing continuum.
  • Collaborate with Property Managers to ensure properties are fully occupied and functioning efficiently.
  • Participate in staff and team meetings to promote communication and collaboration.
  • Ensure compliance with various funding sources and maintain accurate databases.
  • Report maintenance issues promptly and monitor the completion of requests.
  • Represent the organization in housing district court as necessary.
  • Facilitate referrals to other organizational programs as appropriate.
  • Submit required documentation to the Housing Office in a timely manner.
  • Manage rent collection, security deposits, evictions, tenant relations, and conduct annual inspections.
  • Provide emergency support during evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Engage with clients to understand and address their needs, both within and outside the scope of the role.
  • Attend engagement team meetings, follow up on client service plans, and maintain effective communication with clients and staff across various specialties.
  • Ensure adherence to program, agency, and funder requirements, as well as organizational policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree required, along with relevant experience.
  • Experience working with homeless or disadvantaged populations is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of management experience is required, ideally in a decentralized setting.
  • Familiarity with 12-step recovery programs is beneficial.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, particularly Word and Excel, is required.
  • A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and compliance with insurance standards are necessary.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills are a must.
  • Ability to work independently while fulfilling assigned responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated capacity to engage with diverse groups in various environments.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to navigate stairs.
  • Ability to drive as required.

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

  • This position reports directly to the Director of Housing & Supported Services.
  • Supervises Property Managers and Assistant Property Managers.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Regular travel to residential properties is required, including locations without elevators. Night and weekend coverage may be necessary. The role involves direct or incidental contact with clients served by the organization in various programs.
