The Healthcare Access Coordinator plays a crucial role in gathering demographic and insurance details through both telephonic and in-person interactions. This position necessitates the use of eligibility applications to initiate requests for verifying insurance coverage, interpreting responses, and accurately recording pertinent health insurance information relevant to the services provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the creation of encounters in the ADT system that reflect the services the patient is receiving.
  • Accurately discern and record demographic and insurance information to ensure precise registration.
  • Interpret data received from insurance payers regarding patient eligibility and financial obligations.
  • Discuss the financial responsibilities with patients and collect payments via cash, credit card, or check.
  • Explain regulatory forms to patients, addressing any inquiries and obtaining necessary signatures.
  • Manage the scanning or online submission of forms to maintain the Electronic Health Record.
  • Understand and comply with Federal, State, and Third Party Payer regulations related to hospital registration.
  • Effectively navigate multiple systems during patient interactions to ensure accurate registration and support clinical workflows.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma - required
  • Associate's Degree in a relevant field - preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in a hospital or physician office setting - preferred
  • High proficiency in computer skills
  • Demonstrated customer service skills with a focus on exceeding expectations
  • Ability to multitask in a high-pressure, high-volume environment
  • Capacity to learn in a classroom setting while utilizing available resources
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure
  • Strong analytical skills to review information and draw appropriate conclusions
  • Good judgment and resourcefulness in problem-solving; escalate issues as necessary
  • Team-oriented work ethic
