The University at Albany is in search of a proficient and dedicated Accessibility Operations Coordinator.

This position collaborates closely with the Assistant Dean for Disability Access and Inclusion Student Services (DAISS), delivering essential support to students with disabilities.

The coordinator is responsible for ensuring that qualified students receive necessary accommodations within the DAISS Testing Center, overseeing the logistics of exam management including receipt, preparation, distribution, collection, and return. Additionally, this role involves supervising Testing Center staff, managing assistive technology and digital resources, and working with various campus departments to enhance accessibility initiatives. The coordinator also serves as the University’s Electronic and Information Technology Accessibility (EITA) Compliance Officer.


Key Responsibilities:

Support daily operations of the DAISS Office:
Monitor and respond to inquiries via the DAISS Testing email.

Address phone inquiries from students and their support networks.

Engage in assessment activities and training within the Division/office.

Oversee the daily functions of the DAISS Testing Center and its personnel:

Coordinate accommodation services for DAISS students.

Recruit, train, and manage student employees.

Facilitate alternative media services.

Manage and provide guidance on DAISS platforms and technology.

Act as the University’s EITA Compliance Officer to uphold website accessibility standards.

Develop, revise, and implement a comprehensive plan to maintain accessible electronic environments.

Formulate EITA policies and coordinate necessary support initiatives.


Offer guidance on technical standards and establish protocols for both new and existing content and technologies, as well as accessible technology acquisitions and training methods for relevant campus stakeholders.

Promote the UAlbany EITA Plan and continuously assess, adjust, and enhance the plan over time.

Additional Duties:


The incumbent demonstrates a commitment to understanding how Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) influence the achievement of institutional, divisional, and departmental objectives.

The incumbent shows knowledge and understanding of effective strategies and best practices for fostering an inclusive community.

Upholds the guiding principles of the EITA role, which include:

Creating a more inclusive and welcoming digital environment, especially for individuals with disabilities.

Enabling UAlbany to address EIT accessibility challenges.

Empowering students with disabilities to achieve their educational objectives through an accessible EIT framework.

Minimizing institutional exposure to legal risks; and

Encouraging third-party vendors to comply with technical accessibility standards.

Participate in Division/office assessment activities and training.

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

Two years of experience in higher education or a comparable field.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and adaptability to new software and technology.

Technical skills, particularly in software and applications that assist individuals with disabilities.


Demonstrated expertise in developing, evaluating, modifying, and maintaining an accessible electronic environment for community members with disabilities utilizing the University’s website.

Experience in supervising undergraduate and graduate students, including recruitment, training, and providing guidance or developmental feedback as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
