Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage patient registration, update insurance details, and coordinate appointment scheduling.
  • Engage with a diverse range of patients.
  • Utilize electronic medical records to maintain accurate patient information through the registration process and scanning functionalities.
  • Possess knowledge of state and governmental agencies to ensure proper consents for patients under state care; collaborate with facilities to secure necessary consents from patient representatives.
  • Understand and comply with payer requirements for referrals and authorizations relevant to the assigned specialty.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments, referrals, and prior authorizations as necessary.
  • Communicate professionally and promptly with all stakeholders, including providers, patients, clinical teams, and insurance representatives.
  • Handle incoming calls and direct them to appropriate team members.
  • Maintain a professional appearance by adhering to the established dress code.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the registration and scheduling processes for complex patient cases.
  • Update systems with registration, scheduling, and insurance information.
  • Prepare documentation for patient disability and absence from work/school.
  • Discuss financial responsibilities and clarify regulatory forms, addressing any inquiries.
  • Navigate multiple systems during patient interactions and phone communications to ensure accurate registration and support clinical workflows.
  • Understand the strategic objectives of the practice and hospital.
  • Support policies, procedures, and initiatives within the department's expectations and role.
  • Represent Albany Medical Center and uphold the principles of the department, practice, hospital, and center.
  • Exemplify Albany Med CARES guiding principles.
  • Act as an advocate for optimal patient experiences.
  • Prioritize patient and employee safety as the foremost concern.
  • Foster a safe environment and promptly report any issues.
  • Comprehend patient safety goals.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D. - required
  • 2-3 years of office experience or one year in a medical practice - preferred
  • Familiarity with electronic health records and Microsoft Office is advantageous.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a high-volume patient environment.
  • Capacity to learn and utilize available resources.
  • Strong time management abilities.
  • Capability to review information and draw appropriate conclusions.
  • Good judgment and problem-solving skills; escalate issues as necessary.
  • Strong teamwork skills and work ethic.
