POSITION SUMMARY

Eastward Partners Inc. is currently in search of a new Financial Executive Officer for a prominent private equity-backed Landscaping Services firm. This role is pivotal in enhancing financial processes and controls while implementing essential business systems. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, results-driven finance leader with a robust commercial perspective. Experience in private equity, financial reporting, and team building is highly desirable.

As the organization continues to grow, there is a need to strengthen the finance team, focusing on expertise in private equity, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), and mergers and acquisitions (M&A). The successful candidate will adeptly manage the complexities of team development, streamline financial operations, and ensure smooth integration of acquired businesses. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Defining the organizational vision and strategy, encompassing both short- and long-term planning and cross-functional initiatives, with a strategic, financial, and sustainability perspective.
  • Directing financial strategy and decision-making for the operating budget, ensuring alignment with organizational principles.
  • Leading and mentoring a team of finance professionals—including accounts payable, reporting, audit, financial planning, and payroll—to ensure their development and success.
  • Building strong relationships with leadership, board members, and external stakeholders to enhance financial literacy and drive financial initiatives.
  • Encouraging a team culture focused on customer service, where staff proactively communicate with stakeholders to anticipate challenges and engage in problem-solving.
  • Identifying and addressing opportunities and challenges related to financial systems and procedures; enhancing fiscal functions through the implementation of efficient processes.
  • Establishing and maintaining systems to ensure the accuracy and compliance of accounting and reporting, while overseeing the financial operations in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant regulations.
  • Collaborating with organizational leaders to formulate budgets and ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Overseeing all fiscal responsibilities for the organization, maintaining a strategic financial plan that ensures stability and sustainability.
  • Representing the organization to external auditors, financial institutions, and regulatory authorities.
  • Effectively communicating critical financial matters to the CEO, executive team, and board members, as well as key external stakeholders.
  • Creating and maintaining strategic financial projections that align with growth plans and evolving organizational needs.
  • Working alongside operations, legal, real estate, and marketing teams to ensure sound financial agreements and compliance with all obligations.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • A minimum of 7-10 years of comprehensive finance-related experience with a strong foundation in finance and accounting.
  • Proven track record of developing and enhancing systems, with experience in leveraging technology for improved efficiency.
  • Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to manage and develop teams effectively.
  • Capability to cultivate and maintain robust relationships based on trust and respect with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional analytical, strategic, and critical thinking skills, with a history of identifying issues and implementing effective solutions.
  • Experience in private equity-backed environments is preferred.

  • In collaboration with the CEO, develop and implement a strategic growth plan that includes customer penetration, sales and marketing channel expansion, geographic growth, new product development, and strategic acquisitions.
