POSITION SUMMARY
Eastward Partners Inc. is currently in search of a new Vice President of Finance for a prominent private equity-backed Landscaping Services firm. This role is pivotal in enhancing financial processes and controls while implementing essential business systems. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, results-driven finance leader with a robust commercial perspective. Experience in private equity, financial reporting, and team building is crucial for this position.
As the organization continues to grow, there is a strong emphasis on enhancing the finance team, particularly in areas such as financial planning and analysis (FP&A) and mergers and acquisitions (M&A). The successful candidate will adeptly navigate the intricacies of team development, optimize financial workflows, and ensure smooth integration of acquired entities. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Defining the organizational vision and strategy, including short- and long-term planning, while applying a strategic, financial, and sustainability perspective.
- Directing financial strategy and decision-making for the operating budget, ensuring alignment with organizational principles.
- Leading and mentoring a diverse team encompassing accounts payable, reporting and audit, financial planning, and payroll, ensuring their professional development and goal achievement.
- Building strong relationships with leadership, board members, and external stakeholders to enhance financial understanding and drive financial initiatives.
- Promoting a team culture that prioritizes customer service, encouraging regular communication with stakeholders to proactively address challenges.
- Identifying and anticipating opportunities and challenges related to financial systems and procedures; enhancing fiscal functions through the implementation of efficient processes.
- Establishing and maintaining systems to ensure accuracy and compliance in accounting and reporting, while overseeing the financial operations in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant regulations.
- Collaborating with organizational leaders to create budgets and ensure adherence to budget allocations.
- Overseeing all fiscal responsibilities, maintaining a strategic financial plan that ensures organizational stability and sustainability.
- Representing the organization to external auditors, financial institutions, and tax authorities.
- Effectively communicating and presenting key financial matters to the CEO, executive team, and board members, as well as to key external stakeholders on a regular basis.
- Developing and maintaining three to five-year strategic financial projections that align with growth plans and evolving organizational needs.
- Coordinating with operations, legal, real estate, and marketing teams to ensure the organization engages in financially sound contracts and manages debt obligations effectively.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- A minimum of 7-10 years of extensive finance-related experience with a strong focus on finance and accounting.
- Proven track record of system creation and improvement, with experience in leveraging technology for enhanced insights and efficiency.
- Strong leadership skills with a history of successfully managing and developing teams.
- Ability to cultivate and maintain strong relationships based on trust and respect with various internal and external stakeholders.
- Exceptional analytical, strategic, and critical thinking skills, with demonstrated experience in problem identification and solution implementation.
- Experience in private equity-backed environments is preferred.
