Patient Access Specialist (Overnight Shift)

Position Overview
Full-time, Benefit Eligible
Mon-Fri, 12 am-8 am
This role includes differentials for overnight shifts.

As a key customer service representative, you will serve as a vital link for all patients seeking assistance at our health center. As a member of the Patient Access Team, your role will involve engaging with patients in a professional, friendly, and welcoming manner while accurately gathering information to ensure an exceptional customer experience. The Patient Access Specialist will be responsible for scheduling, canceling, rescheduling, and checking out appointments, as well as managing phone inquiries in accordance with departmental guidelines. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate appointment check-outs and establish follow-up visits or recalls.
  • Manage appointment scheduling, cancellations, and rescheduling for walk-in patients.
  • Handle incoming phone calls.
  • Document clear and concise telephone interactions or prescription refill requests and direct them appropriately.
  • Utilize and document in the Electronic Medical Record (Epic) to access relevant information.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 1 year of experience in customer service and/or administrative roles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with sound judgment and problem-solving abilities.
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English is essential.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and experience with electronic medical record systems is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
