As a customer service professional, you will serve as a key point of contact for all patients seeking assistance at East Boston Neighborhood Health Center. As a vital member of the Patient Access Team, you are expected to engage with patients in a courteous, friendly, and professional manner while accurately gathering information to ensure an exceptional customer experience. The Healthcare Access Specialist will be responsible for scheduling, canceling, rescheduling, and checking out appointments, as well as handling phone inquiries in accordance with the Registration Department protocols.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate appointment check-outs and arrange follow-up visits or recalls.
  • Manage the booking, cancellation, and rescheduling of appointments for walk-in patients.
  • Handle incoming phone calls.
  • Record clear and concise telephone interactions or prescription refill requests and direct them appropriately.
  • Utilize and document information in the Electronic Medical Record (Epic) system to access relevant patient data.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 1 year of experience in customer service and/or administrative roles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with sound judgment and problem-solving abilities.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is required.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and experience with electronic medical record systems is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
