We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Assistant/Patient Service Specialist to join our team at Steward Health Care. As a key member of our clinical and administrative team, you will be responsible for ensuring smooth day-to-day operations in our physician practice.
Key Responsibilities- Work closely with providers to deliver exceptional patient care and support.
- Prepare patients for provider visits, take vital signs, and record patient history and chief complaints.
- Obtain required consents, complete forms, and perform in-office testing as needed.
- Administer vaccines and medications as ordered by providers, following SMG policies.
- Stock rooms, monitor expiration of supplies, and assist with incoming calls.
- Register patients in EMR, verify information, and conduct eligibility checks.
- Schedule patients' appointments and testing, and follow scheduling rules.
- Perform pre-visit planning, outreach to patients, and obtain prior authorizations and referrals as needed.
- Work independently with minimal supervision and adhere to all SMG policies.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Education from an approved medical assistant program or equivalent preferred.
- One to three years of experience as a medical assistant preferred.
- Strong customer service skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and experience with EMR and Microsoft Office preferred.
