Job Summary

The Chief Student Services Officer serves as the chief student services officer at Southern Arkansas University Tech, reporting directly to the Chancellor. This role encompasses overall leadership, management, and supervision of all student services programs and personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee student financial aid, career pathways, registration, admissions, student life, campus police, student discipline, campus dining, housing, and athletics.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and practices that enhance student learning and success, supporting the strategic goals of the College.
  • Guide student recruitment efforts and promote an environment of respect, collaboration, and teamwork with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Prepare and analyze reports on enrollment trends to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Direct activities related to student judicial proceedings, ensuring due process and adherence to policies, including those pertaining to Title IX.
  • Maintain a student-centered approach across services, focusing on enrollment, retention, and graduation rates.
  • Ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, providing equal access to all students.
  • Continuously evaluate the financial viability of student services, prioritizing programs based on need and demand.
  • Oversee budget preparation and maintain financial control over supervised functions, supporting College activities through active participation.
  • Represent the College positively in public forums and remain prepared to address unexpected situations outside of regular working hours.
  • Lead the development and promotion of new partnerships with public and private vendors and establish strategic operational goals in accordance with the College's long-term plans.
  • Uphold strict confidentiality regarding all sensitive information encountered through work.
  • Actively contribute to a safe educational and working environment by participating in safety drills and emergency preparedness training.
Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Student Affairs, or a related field is required. A Doctorate in higher educational leadership is preferred.
  • Extensive experience in student services or student affairs within higher education, including significant leadership roles and responsibilities.
  • Strong capability to lead and manage large teams, oversee budgets, and devise and execute strategic plans effectively.
  • A proven dedication to improving student success, retention, and graduation rates.
  • In-depth understanding of both regional and national accreditation standards and processes, with a proven ability to ensure academic and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and oral, enabling effective collaboration.
  • Proficient in computer skills with a thorough understanding of modern student information systems.
  • Knowledge of NJCAA compliance and regulations, ensuring adherence to athletic and academic standards.
