Job Overview

The Food Service Worker is responsible for preparing and serving meals in accordance with established menus and portion guidelines as outlined by yield standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepares and serves food items while ensuring compliance with portion control measures.

• Conducts cleaning tasks, including sweeping and mopping floors, sanitizing equipment and work areas, and performing dishwashing duties.

• Prepares beverages, operates beverage machines, and organizes food service areas for hot and cold items.

• Delivers food to staff and students as required, including catering functions.

• Adheres to all health department regulations and safety protocols for food handling.

• Follows security protocols and guidelines specific to the client location.

• Receives and organizes incoming supplies.

• Adheres to scheduled breaks as assigned.

• Collects and prepares trays for dishwashing and assists in ware washing as needed.

• Organizes and stores utensils, dishes, and kitchenware.

• Participates in safety initiatives and committee activities.

• Attends mandatory training sessions and in-service programs.

• Manages cash handling and point-of-sale transactions if applicable.

Additional Duties:

• Complies with all policies and procedures set forth by Whitsons Culinary Group.

Qualifications:

Required Skills and Experience:

Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of all required training programs as mandated by Whitsons.
Other Skills:
  • Proficient in English to understand and execute job responsibilities.
  • Preferred experience of at least one year in a professional food service environment.
  • Consistently presents a positive and professional demeanor.
Physical Requirements:

The physical demands outlined here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to effectively perform the essential functions of this role. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
  • Frequent sitting, walking, talking, and hearing are required.
  • Must be able to use hands and fingers to handle or operate tools and reach with arms.
  • Standing for the majority of the workday, with frequent movement required.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, with occasional twisting motions.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
  • Work primarily occurs in kitchen and serving areas.
  • Prolonged standing is necessary.
  • Involves movement in and out of storage areas and freezers.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures due to cooking and refrigeration.
  • Noise levels in the work environment can range from moderate to loud.
