Job Overview

The Culinary Service Associate plays a vital role in the preparation and delivery of meals tailored to student needs, ensuring adherence to portion guidelines as outlined by yield standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepares and serves meals according to established menus, maintaining proper portion sizes.

• Conducts cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing equipment and workspaces, as well as washing dishes and pots.

• Prepares beverages, manages beverage stations, and organizes food service areas for hot and cold offerings.

• Delivers food to students, staff, and catering events as required.

• Adheres to all local, state, and federal health regulations regarding safe food handling practices.

• Follows security protocols and guidelines specific to the service location.

• Receives and organizes incoming supplies.

• Adheres to designated break schedules.

• Collects and prepares trays for dishwashing and assists in ware washing duties when assigned.

• Organizes and stores utensils, dishes, and cookware.

• Participates in safety committees and training sessions.

• Attends mandatory training programs as required.

• Handles cash and operates the point of sale system if applicable.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Complies with all policies and procedures established by Whitsons Culinary Group.

Qualifications:

Required Skills and Experience:

Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of all required training programs.
Other Skills:
  • Proficient in English for effective communication and task execution.
  • Preferred: 1 year of experience in a professional food service environment.
  • Consistently presents a positive and professional demeanor.
Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this position require the following:
  • Frequent sitting, walking, talking, and listening.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers for handling objects and controls, and to reach with arms.
  • Standing for the majority of the workday, with regular movement throughout the kitchen and service areas.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, with occasional twisting movements.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
  • Work primarily takes place in kitchen and serving areas.
  • Standing for extended periods is necessary.
  • Involves movement in and out of storage areas and refrigeration units.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures due to cooking and refrigeration equipment.
  • Noise levels may range from moderate to loud.
